Strong signal: Volkswagen Financial Services remain main sponsor of the Lions

Braunschweig, 14 July 2023. As they follow their "young, wild and hungry" concept with fighting spirit and a dynamic approach to the game, the Basketball Löwen (Lions) Braunschweig can continue to count on Volkswagen Financial Services providing their significant support to the club and simultaneously strengthening Braunschweig's position as a first-division basketball city. Europe's largest automotive financial services provider, which has its base in the "Lion City of Braunschweig", climbed back on board in December 2022 as the main sponsor of the team playing in the easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga – Germany's national league or First Division – and will continue its commitment in the upcoming 2023/24 season. As part of this sponsorship, Volkswagen Financial Services will continue to occupy the main advertising space on the team jersey and receive various other advertising spaces along with far-reaching activation opportunities.

Dr. Christian Dahlheim, CEO of Volkswagen Financial Services and member of the Supervisory Board of the club's operating company Löwen GmbH, said this about the continuation of the commitment: "Volkswagen Financial Services and the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig – it just fits! We are looking forward – together with other strong partners – to continuing the successful path the Basketball Löwen are taking as their main sponsor. Our entrepreneurial heart beats here in Braunschweig: after all, we have been involved for many years – in addition to sports – in a variety of cultural, social and sustainability projects."

Löwen Managing Director Nils Mittmann responded: "We are very happy that we have convinced Volkswagen Financial Services of the merits of our concept and of the collaboration with us and that we are continuing this partnership, a partnership that is and has been open and well-practiced at all levels. The commitment of Volkswagen Financial Services not only confirms our philosophy, it also makes a fundamental contribution to ensuring that we can continue to pursue our path successfully and, at the same time, sends a strong signal for the first-division location of Braunschweig."

And Dennis Schröder, the majority shareholder of the Basketball Löwen, commented: "I said in December that I saw the entry of Volkswagen Financial Services as the starting point of what we hoped would be a long-term collaboration and I feel encouraged by the continuation of their main sponsor commitment. This collaboration with such a strong partner is also something that we need, because we still have a few hurdles to overcome and because we want to constantly develop ourselves further. We are delighted that Volkswagen Financial Services are supporting us and that we are starting into the new season together."
